Study: Treatment for cancer has preventive benefit

Using tamoxifen in hopes of preventing breast cancer would benefit more than 2.4 million women, the vast majority middle-aged and white, despite the drug's serious side effects.

Cancer drug gives hope to sickle cell sufferers

A drug that reduces the disabling pain of sickle cell anemia can also significantly lower death rates and should be used by many more patients with the blood disorder, researchers say.
